Embarking on a thrilling new chapter at Inspire Elementary as a first-year STEAM teacher fills me with boundless excitement! I got the chance to live in Granby, Colorado in the summer of 2016 while I worked at C Lazy U Ranch as a kid’s counselor, and have been in love with the state since! Denver, the city of my childhood dreams, has now become my home, and it’s all thanks to the vibrant community found within Inspire that has made this dream come true! I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and have spent most of my time there with childhood friends and the majority of my family. I moved away from Atlanta in 2015 to begin my educational voyage at the University of South Carolina and studied Early Childhood Education with a focus on Culturally Relevant Pedagogy. I also completed courses in Studio Art, because I love spending my free time creating and messing with colors. When I graduated in 2019, I returned to Atlanta and began a rewarding career as a 1st-grade teacher. I spent the past 4 years teaching first graders and simultaneously pursued a master’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in ESL. Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with a nonprofit organization called Horizons, and that’s where the magic of STEAM first captivated me. The program’s boundless curiosity and passion exhibited by students as they delved into STEAM concepts were pure magic. It became crystal clear to me that learning is a journey of exploration, fueled by inquisitiveness, investigations, experiments, and creativity. As I take flight in my dream city and embark on a career beyond my wildest imagination at Inspire, I am thrilled to explore uncharted territories and moments of learning, adventure, and discovery that we get to share together. I can hardly contain my excitement to be on this epic adventure with you, Inspire!
