Hello! My name is Hannah Mealer and I am the K-5 math interventionist here at Inspire Elementary. As a self-described “math nerd” I absolutely love this role and I am thrilled to be coming on for my fourth year at Inspire.
My qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education from Ohio State University {2013} and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University {2015}. Over the past decade I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade as a homeroom teacher. I worked at a charter school in Arizona, at international schools in Thailand and Germany and for the last five years I have worked within Denver Public Schools. This will be my eleventh year in education and my third year working as a math interventionist.
I would describe myself as an extremely passionate educator and a firm believer that learning should be joyous and full of inquiry and discovery. I always aim to build strong relationships with my students and I work to create a learning environment where all students feel seen, appreciated and challenged. As an interventionist, working with small groups of six or less allows me to connect with my students on an individual level and I feel so grateful to have such focused, valuable time with my learners. All children are great mathematicians and I am so happy I get to be a part of their journey!
When I am not in the classroom I am an avid hiker and backpacker (hike suggestions welcome 😊). I also love spending time with my husband Victor and discovering new, beautiful places in Colorado. When given time to relax, I especially love to read and paint. I am looking forward to another wonderful year!
