Darby Teander
Music Teacher

Hello, My name is Darby Teander and I am thrilled to be building a music program at Inspire Elementary! I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. I went to school at Appalachian State University where I earned my degree in Music Education with a concentration in General (elementary) Music and a Saxophone performance certificate. I have additional certifications in Orff music pedagogy and Little Kids Rock. The saxophone is my primary instrument and I actually only play classical saxophone music, not jazz! I also love to sing and play the guitar. When I’m not teaching, I’m spending hours riding my bike through the mountains. I am an amateur cyclist and race road bikes on a women’s team called Alp Cycles.

I can’t wait to get your students singing, moving, improvising, creating, playing, and performing!
